Awards and Accomplishments
Rags To Riches productions are written and directed by Lou Peters. The costumes are designed by Melody Peters. The set is designed by Michael Linteau. This show is designed as a touring production that will play in almost any facility. The cast is made up of Melody and Lou Peters who have been professional actors for over 20 years and founded the company in 1993. Lou holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Child Drama from UNC-G and Melody holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Acting from UNC-G.
Rags To Riches has developed creative drama residencies for Durham County, Orange County, Wake County, Lee County and Buncombe County, and Caswell County, North Carolina schools. Rags To Riches was asked to develop acting for teens and creative drama in the classroom for Lee County, Florida schools. Also developed were drama program for “at risk” youth in Durham, NC and Lee County FL. Rags To Riches also used drama in the classroom to support writing development for Orange County schools, NC.
Rags To Riches was commissioned to write and tour, The Garden Prince for the North Carolina Museum of Art outreach tour in 2008, Cinderella on the Nile for the North Carolina Museum of Art outreach tour in 2007, Puss in Boots for the North Carolina Museum of Art outreach tour in 2004.
Rags To Riches featured Caught in the Web at SETC’s invitational children’s theatre festival in 2001.
In July of 2005, Rags To Riches received the Delaware Division of Arts Project Support Grant and was selected by the Delaware Department of State and the Division of Libraries to perform in every library in the State of Delaware for the Summer Reading Program.
